The EU MarineStrategy Framework Directive (MSFD) has for main objective to achieve or maintain 'Good Environmental Status' (GES)
in European seas by 2020. To this end, the development of common criteria and
methods of assessment is essential to ensure consistency and compatibility. After contributing to the development of MSFD indicators based on plankton monitoring data (EcApRHA project ; link for publication), I was involved in the planning of monitoring practices for pelagic habitats and eutrophication for French seas.
Additionally, I build on these experiences to futher investigate the use of parasites as indicators of anthropogenic pressures in sea and freshwater management, i.e. environmental parasitology.
